New Delhi: Skoda is set to bring the RS version of the Octavia in November of this year. While media outlet Autocar had previously confirmed the arrival of the RS back in June, the brand has now revealed a confirmed month for launch.
For the fourth-generation of the Octavia RS, it comes with the well-known EA888 that makes 265 bhp and has a torque of 370 Nm from a 2.0-litre four-pot, turbo-petrol engine. It is the 2.0 TSI that is used in the Skoda Kodiaq RS and the Volkswagen Golf GTI. It comes with a quick-shifting seven-speed DSG (dual-clutch) automatic gearbox. Skoda have said that it goes from 0-100 kph in just 6.4 seconds with the top speed electronically limited to 250 kph.
Media sources have said that the Skoda will be pricing the Octavia RS, on par with the Golf GTI, which is priced at around Rs 50.91 lakh. It is also being said that the performance sedan will be brought here as a full import and will be coming in a limited number, at around 200 units. The last Skoda Octavia RS 245 had also been limited to just 200 units in India.
At its price, it is one of the cheapest performance sedans to occupy the market. Coming with a lowered sports suspension that is reduced by 15mm, it is a proper performance vehicle, as it is meant to be. The RS always had a decent response, and Skoda won't be too worried.
