Tata is bringing back Sierra nameplate; launch on November 25th
Tata will officially introduce the Sierra on November 255th and the mid-size SUV will be sitting between the Curvv and Harrier, and will have multiple powertrains, including petrol, diesel and electric.
New Delhi: Tata Motors are officially launching the new Sierra on November 25th, 2025. The midsize SUV will fill right between the Curvv and Harrier in the brand’s lineup and would be rivalling the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate.
The ICE is going to be the first one to arrive and will be followed by the EV version. Since the Sierra ICE is going to be above the Curvv, it is likely to be placed above Rs 11 lakh. Sierra, of course, was the nameplate of the brand’s earlier SUV, introduced in 1991 and discontinued after a decade.
2025 Tata Sierra powertrains
Tata Motors will be bringing the Sierra with multiple powertrains, that is petrol, diesel and electric. The petrol SUV might debut the brand’s own 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, direct injection engine shown during the 2023 Auto Expo. A naturally aspirated version of the 1.5-litre TGDI motor could be powering the entry-level Sierra variants. Tata might also carry the Curvv’s 1.5-litre diesel engine in the Sierra.
The battery size, range and other details are yet to be clear for the Sierra EV, which is going to be competing against the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE 6.
2025 Tata Sierra features and tech
Much like the old Sierra, the new SUV retains design elements such as the signature curved rear windows, boxy wheel arches and a tall bonnet, the long glass back passenger window. In this generation, though, the roofline is much sharper, with shorter front and rear overhangs and a more upright, slab-sided shape.
The slim headlamp setup and connected daytime running lamps are much more similar to the more recent Tata cars. Wheel sizes have been increased to 19 inches, a 4-inch increase.
The Sierra will likely be coming with a 3-screen setup, like the Mahindra XEV 9e, and this will contain the digital instrument cluster alongside a central and passenger-side touchscreen, and each will measure 12.3 inches. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a dual-tone dashboard, a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, ventilated front seats, and a wireless phone charger.
In terms of safety, it is going to get six airbags, a 360-degree camera setup, electronic stability control and Level 2 ADAS. With the brand’s pedigree, it should manage to do well in the safety ratings as well.
