New Delhi: Tata Sierra has been in the plans of the brand for a while, and ever since its unveiling at the Bharat Mobility auto expo, it has been eagerly awaited. It wears a badge that, back in the 1990s, had made the brand gain some ground as an Indian carmaker, in a market that was relatively still less crowded. Nearly 30 years later, Tata Motors are bringing the fabled SUV back.
In the latest spy photos from user on Reddit, a lot of the interior and the dashboard have been revealed, coming with quite a few premium features, including the triple-screen setup. Sierra gets three connected displays on the dashboard, appearing for the first time in a Tata Motors car. It will include a display for passengers alongside the usual digital instrument cluster and central touchscreen for infotainment.
This makes the Tata interiors much more high-tech as well as quite luxurious to look at. The screens are quite big and are integrated seamlessly with a single glass housing for the minimalistic look that has become quite so common.
As is the case with most of Tata’s recent offerings, like the Harrier.ev, it will come with touch-based HVAC controls for functions like temperature setting, a flat-bottom steering wheel just like the Harrier.ev.
The Sierra is likely to come to the Indian market around November or December of this year. On the outside, it will be like it had been spotted at the Bharat Mobility expo, coming with a similar-looking silhouette despite having the modern Tata Motors design language. On the front, it gets a full-width LED strip flanked with DRLs
Tata Sierra is based on Tata’s ATLAS architecture and is likely to get two engine options, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol that can put out 170 bhp and 280 Nm and a 2-litre turbo diesel engine that it will share from the Safari and Harrier.
