Tata Motors brings Shailesh Chandra as MD and CEO, Dhiman Gupta as CFO

Tata Motors have announced a big re-shuffle of their leadership ahead of their demergering of the Passenger vehicle and the Commercial vehicle company.

New Delhi: Tata Motors on Friday announced a management shuffle ahead of their planned demerger to separate the commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles business. By the brand’s regulatory filing, Shailesh Chandra has been appointed as the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective from October 1st, 2025.

His term is going to run for three years, until September 30th, 2028. The company also announced a new CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, CFO and CV business head. Chandra will also join the board in the role of Additional Director and take charge as Key Managerial Personnel. At present, he heads Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd and will continue in the role along with new responsibilities.

Girish Wagh will now lead the Commercial Vehicles business as the Managing Director and CEO from October 1st 2025, as well. CEO Guenter Karl Butschek will be joining the commercial side after the company is through with the demerger. In the transition, the company also announced the step down of PB Balaji as the Group Chief Financial Officer, effective from November 17th 2025. 

He will now serve as a non-Independent Director on the Board of the company from the date of joining as he assumed his role in JLR.

In the Financial role, Tata Motors have announced the coming of Dhiman Gupta as the Chief Financial Officer of the company, who will take charge from November 17th, 2025. 

It is clear that the company’s leadership change is crucial in terms of the carmaker’s growth, with the company getting the go-ahead from the National Company Law Tribunal to split their passenger and commercial vehicle business into separate entities.
