New Delhi: Tata Motors have said that the Sierra received over 70,000 confirmed bookings on December 16, the first day of bookings for the mid-size SUV. The brand stated that about 1.35 lakh customers submitted their preferred setup for the new car.
In an official statement, Tata said, “On the very first day of bookings officially opening, the Sierra set a new benchmark for customer excitement and trust, recording over 70,000 confirmed bookings and an additional 1.35 lakh customers submitting their preferred configuration as they progress to complete booking formalities.”
Bookings for the Tata Sierra can be done through the authorised Tata Motors dealers or from the company’s website as well. The booking amount is at Rs 21,000 and will be adjusted against the final vehicle price. The pricing of the Sierra starts at Rs 11.49 lakh and goes as up as Rs 21.29 lakh.
The SUV gets three engine options, which would be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine called the Revotron, the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine called the Hyperion T-GDi and a 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel unit. The Revotron makes 106 bhp and 145 Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Hyperion makes 160 bhp and 255 Nm of torque, paired with only a six-speed torque converter, and the Kryojet makes 118 bhp and 280 Nm of torque, which gets a six-speed manual or six-speed torque converter automatic.
In our recent drive of the turbo petrol engine and the diesel engine, we enjoyed the car overall. Personally, I liked the handling, the butter-smooth petrol engine and the stance. It is perfectly sized, large enough to make it feel like a proper SUV but nimble enough to live with in a city.
Tata have loaded it with features, which include three screens, two being the usual instrument cluster, infotainment and a third acts as a screen for the co-passenger to operate for gaming and listening to music, independent of the main infotainment. Sierra also comes with a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the lot.
