New Delhi: Tesla have revealed a six-seater, long-wheelbase version of the Model Y crossover in China, with the EV maker teasing its arrival last month itself. The Model Y L is priced at 3,39,000 yuan, which translates to Rs 41.17 lakh. The standard Model Y with five seats is the brand’s best-selling model in the country, though it is giving away its market share to vehicles from domestic carmakers, and the new model is being looked at as a way to regain the lost ground.

Although the Model Y L’s exterior resembles the standard variant, it comes with redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels, along with a longer roofline, bigger quarter glass and a blacked-out spoiler. The Model YYY badging on the boot also indicates higher seating capacity and extended wheelbase, and even gets a new Starlight Gold colour.

The Model Y L comes with a 2+2+2 seating setup, with the second-row captain chairs coming as heated, ventilated and even get power-folding armrests, along with last row seats coming heated as well. There have been a couple of upgrades made to Model Y, which include a 16-inch touchscreen (0.4mm larger) and 18 speakers (which is four more). Pillar-mounted air vents are available for both the second and third rows.

Offered only as a long-range, all-wheel-drive (AWD) style, the Model Y L gets a 193 bhp front and 269 rear electric motors. Power comes from an 82 kWh battery pack and goes 0-100 kph in 4.5 seconds. It gets 751 km on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), which is one more than its standard version, though at 2,088 kg, it is 96 kg heavier. According to Tesla, this was down to the EV’s aerodynamic design and new wheels.
