Toyota Hyryder goes past both Innova models for the first time

New Delhi: Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder has outsold the Japanese carmaker’s long-standing bestseller, the Innova, a first for the car, making a best-ever monthly sales of 11,555 units in October. That is a 201 per cent year-on-year growth. The combined sales of the Innova Hyrcros and Crysta were at 11,294 units in the month. 

Toyota Kirloskar Motor also registered the highest-ever SUV and MPV dispatches of 33,809 units in October, a 61 per cent YoY increase. 

For a while now, the Hyryrder has been on a good growing trajectory since being introduced in September 2022. The SUV’s previous best monthly sales record stood at 9100 units in August 2025, and the tally since launch sits at 1,60,000 units. Created in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki as a sibling of the Grand Vitara, the Hyryder has been one of Toyota’s most successful rebadged models. 

Having a claimed mileage of close to 27.97 kph, it has one of the best fuel-efficiency records in the mid-size SUV segment. It is quiet and capable as a car and rides smoothly through anything with unmatched comfort.

Still, the Innova twins are leading with a huge gap in terms of cumulative sales during the first seven months of the current fiscal year, having sold 64,678 units between April and October 2025, which is a 5 per cent increase over the year-ago period. The Hyryder, in comparison, saw a sales surge of 57 per cent to 56,754 units, a total of 7,924 units less than Innova twins.

The Hyryder is a five-seater compact SUV with an ex-showroom price falling between Rs 10.95 lakhs to Rs 19.57 lakhs. The Innova, as an MPV, is available in both seven and eight-seat configurations. The Innova Crysta pricing is between Rs 19.99 lakh and Rs 27.08 lakh, while the Innova Hycross is priced between Rs 18.06 lakh and Rs 31.90 lakh. The three models together accounted for 67 per cent of TKM’s sales during October.
