New Delhi: Volkswagen will be having a very busy 2026, with strong products getting lined up. The brand’s sales chief, Martin Sander, has noted that they are preparing for "unprecedented launches” across the world. These will include even updates to existing models along with new additions to the brand’s big lineup.

Sander spoke to the Automotive News and reaffirmed VW’s plans to launch the ID. Polo. The electric supermini will be followed by another production version of the ID. Cross concept, which is basically a Polo electric reimagined as an SUV. The two EVs will have the same relationship as between the modern-day Polo and T-Cross, both of which are ICE.

VW is also preparing to bring a new version of the ID.3 and ID.4, although there is no confirmation if these will be an all-new generation or facelifts of the current models. Media reports point towards the two EVs coming with quite a of upgrades rather than just transitioning into new versions. Development boss Kai Gruntiz has said that the two will be an absolute new design language.

Apart from the fresh styling, the ID.3 and ID.4 are likely to come with better interiors with higher-quality materials and physical buttons for some of the functions are going to return as well.

Sanders noted that there was more with VW launching an EV with a range-extending petrol engine in China next year. It was previewed earlier this year by ID.Era concept, the model co-created with SAIC as a full-size three-row SUV, coming with a range of 1,000 km. As just an electric car to covers 300 km of range on a single charge.

The product waves are leaning towards EVs, with the German brand believing that electric is the way of the future. However, they do acknowledge that it will be some time before the EV can scale up to ICE margins in terms of profitability. The EV push will extend up to the arrival of the new Golf at the end of this decade.

In its ninth generation, Polo will be exclusively an EV, although, like the conventionally powered Polo, the combustion engine trim will remain in production.
