New Delhi: The central government has completely debunked a rumour spread on social media. It was claimed that retired government employees will no longer get the facilities of Dearness Allowance i.e. DA hike and future pay commission. The government clearly stated that this news is completely false news and there has been no change in the benefits of most pensioners. This clarification has come from the Finance Ministry and the Pension Department.
"Will retired Govt employees stop getting DA hikes & Pay Commission benefits under the Finance Act 2025.
A message circulating on #WhatsApp claims that the Central Government has withdrawn post-retirement benefits like DA hikes and Pay Commission revisions for retired employees under the Finance Act 2025," governmenyt's PIB FactCheck stated on X.
Recently Rule 37 (29C) of the CCS (Pension) Rules 2021 has been amended. This change applies only to those former government employees who joined the PSU i.e. public sector companies. If such employees are fired from their jobs due to any wrongdoing in the PSU, then their government service pension can also be forfeited. It is written in the rule that after dismissal or removal from the PSU, the benefits of government service will also be lost. But it does not affect ordinary pensioners.
The viral message said that the decision of the Supreme Court of 1982 has been changed from the Finance Act 2025. This is also a lie. The government's Fact Check team termed the image and the news as fake. It claimed that the government will not pay pensions to retired people, which is wrong. Most pensioners will continue to get the benefits of DA hike and pay commission as before.
The government has approved the rules for the 8th pay commission a few days ago. The commission has been given 18 months to submit its report. This will benefit government employees and pensioners in the future. This move is a relief news for pensioners amidst rumours.
