New Delhi: Indian Railways recently announced an increase in passenger ticket fares. The announced move is expected to improve the services provided by Railways while simultaneously streamlining the complex fare structures. However, there is no change in ticket prices for railway journeys below 500 km on ordinary non-AC classes. The new rates came into effect from July 1st, 2025. The changed fares are aligned with the passenger fare table issued by the Indian Railways Conference Association (IRCA).
The revision in fares applies to premier and special train services such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, Amrit Bharat, Mahamana, Gatimaan, Antyodaya, Jan Shatabdi, Yuva Express, AC Vistadome coaches, Anubhuti coaches, and ordinary non-suburban services (on journeys after 500 km).
Dynamic pricing is applied to the premium trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Duronto Express. Dynamic pricing refers to the change in ticket prices according to the number of seat bookings. The fare increases proportionately as the number of seats sold.
An example of two popular train routes with the revised fares is as follows:
The HWH Rajdhani Express (12302) operates and plies between New Delhi and Howrah (West Bengal) has seen revision of fare which is effectively applied from July 1st, 2025
The CSMT Rajdhani Express (22222) operates and plies between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Mumbai CSMT has seen a revision of fare which is effectively applied from July 1st, 2025.
