Indian Railways hikes train ticket prices from July 1: Check rates for sleeper, AC

Indian Railways increased fares across all Mail/Express and premium trains, including Rajdhani, Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, and Duronto with effect from July 1st, 2025.

New Delhi: Indian Railways increased the train ticket prices for all Mail/Express trains and premium trains including Rajdhanis, Duronto, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat Express with effect from July 1, 2025. The government stated that the fare hike was introduced to streamline fare structures and enhance financial sustainability of passenger services. 

The Ministry of Railways stated that there will be no change in Suburban single journey fares and Season Tickets (for both suburban and non-suburban routes). “The revised fares are based on the updated Passenger Fare Table issued by the Indian Railway Conference Association (IRCA),” the ministry’s statement read.

Ordinary Non-AC Classes (Non-suburban trains) fares

The Railways has not increased fare for Second Class up to 500 Km

However, if you travel for distance 501 to 1500 Km, the fare has been increased by Rs 5

For 1501 to 2500 Km, the ticket price has been increased by Rs 10

Fare hiked by Rs 15 for distance 2501 to 3000 Km

For Sleeper Class coaches, fare has been increased by 0.5 paisa per kilometre

For First Class, the ticket fare has been hiked 0.5 paisa per kilometre.

Mail/Express Trains (Non-AC) fares increased

Second Class: The Railways has hiked the travel fare by 1 paisa per kilometre

Sleeper Class: Ticket price increased by 1 paisa per kilometre

First Class: Passengers will have to shell out 1 paisa more per kilometre

For AC Classes (Mail/Express trains) ticket fare

The Railways increased the ticket price by 2 Paisa per kilometre for AC Chair Car, AC 3-Tier/3-Economy, AC 2-Tier, and AC First/Executive Class/Executive Anubhuti.

“The fare revision also applies to premier and special train services such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, Amrit Bharat, Mahamana, Gatimaan, Antyodaya, Jan Shatabdi, Yuva Express, AC Vistadome coaches, Anubhuti coaches, and Ordinary non-suburban services, in accordance with the revised class-wise fare structure,” the release mentioned.
