Post Office ATM Card: New Withdrawal fees & charges at other bank ATMs | Explained

Post Office ATM cardholders now face increased withdrawal charges when using other bank ATMs after limited free transactions. Financial transactions now cost Rs 23+GST, while non-financial transactions are Rs 11+GST, a Rs 3 increase. Metro cities get three free transactions, non-metros five. No changes apply to withdrawals at Post Office ATMs, maintaining existing fees and free limits.

New Delhi: Post Office ATM withdrawal charges: If you have an account with a Post Office Savings Account (POSA) and you use a Post Office ATM card, then now you may have to pay some new charges. Post office ATM card holders will now have to pay a fee for withdrawals from their cards at other bank ATMs after some limited free transactions. If you withdraw money from your ATM at the post office, the charges will remain the same.

With the Post Office ATM card, you can do some transactions in other bank ATMs for free. Metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata have three free transactions, whereas non-metro cities have five free transactions. But when this limit is over, you will now have to pay an additional charge. Every financial transaction i.e. withdrawal of money will have to pay 23 rupees plus GST, whereas non-financial transactions like balance check or mini statement will attract 11 rupees plus GST. Earlier these charges used to be 20 and 8 rupees. That means now you will have to pay 3 rupees more every time you withdraw money.

If you transact with your post office ATM card in the ATM of the post office, then there is no change. You can do five free financial transactions and five free non-financial transactions at the post office ATM. After the free limit, 10 rupees and GST will be paid on financial transactions, whereas 5 rupees and GST will be paid for non-financial transactions. Therefore, it is important to understand that if you use ATMs of other banks again and again, then your expenses may increase.
