Kolkata: UPI has become almost a default way of making payments for crores of Indians. SBI management has announced that they will undertake maintenance activity on the night of Sunday, Nov 23 and as result, their clients cannot use UPI for a limited time window. The technical maintenance is necessary for smooth operation of the UPIP services linked to the bank's accounts.
To make the "outage" time as short and as less inconvenient for their customers as possible, SBI will carry out the maintenance activity from 1:10 am to 2:45 am on November 23. During this time UPI transactions cannot be carried out. The planned "outage" will not impact UPI only. None can use IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, Internet Banking, YONO, and ATM services within that time period. The bank has advised its customers to use UPI Lite for small transactions within that time window. Needless to say, after the maintenance is complete, all normal services will be restored for everyone.
Will ATM services be closed too?
While digital services will be shut, ATM services will also be impacted due to the maintenance work. SBI's ATM channels will also be affected and, as a result, ATM services will be closed from 1:10 am to 2:10 am on November 23. Like the digital services normal ATM services will be restored after the maintenance work is over.
Though UPI service will be impacted, UPI Lite can continue. UPI Lite is a payment solution that is designed to process low value transactions. The limit for these transactions is below Rs 1000.
