New Delhi: Yatri is a very trusted app in Mumbai for Indian Railways to get access to trusted, authentic and real-time information about local trains. Now, it has launched a real-time in-app chat feature called Yatri Chat on Monday.
The new feature on the Yatri app will enable around 80 lakh local train commuters in Mumbai to stay updated and connected while travelling. It has dedicated community groups for every major rail corridor of the city, which are the Western Line, Central Line, Harbour Line, and Trans-Harbour Line.
In the Yatri Chat, passengers will not only be able to share updates about train timings and information, but can also exchange stories and stay informed while commuting. They can now engage in real-time, two-way conversations thanks to the new reply feature, which will enable them to respond to questions or even raise a query and sharing on-ground updates. Each train line will have dedicated chat groups, which will ensure that the conversations stay relevant to the passengers.
According to a report by Mid-Day, Reeva Sakaria, Yatri's co-founder, said, "Mumbai’s local trains are more than just a way to get from A to B. They are where stories are exchanged, friendships are forged, and everyday journeys turn into shared experiences."
She added, “With Yatri Chat, that community spirit now finds a new home online. We are bringing train conversations into the digital space, turning 80 lakh daily commuters into a connected community.”
She explained further, “Usually, one will have a cap on the number of members when it is a WhatsApp group. This feature, Yatri Chat, will also see chats be line-specific, like the Western Line, Central Line, Harbour Line and Trans-Harbour Line, so that the chat stays specific and relevant to the commuter. We launched Yatri in 2021, with the commuter community taking to it immediately. With this newly opened feature interface, we too are monitoring the interactions, seeing if any kind of changes are needed.”
