The incident came to light after the deceased woman's husband Suri Babu filed a complaint.

Yamuna was brought to the hospital in Madanapalle on Sunday for the surgery, during which she suffered from seizures, lost consciousness and died on the operating table. After the surgery, the hospital staff and brokers tried to cover up the incident and asked Suri Babu to also remain silent. He refused to stay silent and went to the police.

A special team led by Madanapalle two town police station CI Raja Reddy began an investigation into the matter. Several people from the hospital have been detained and are being interrogated. CI Raja Reddy said that cases of human organ trafficking and cheating have been registered against the accused.

The main accused include Dr Avinash and Dr Shashwathi along with a middleman named Neeraj, who run Global Hospital. The doctors and brokers involved in the illegal racket have been arrested.
