Eight suspended from Srikakulam IIIT after student dies by suicide

Rajeev Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) management has suspended eight students  after a third-year student died by suicide at the college hostel on Wednesday, November 12.

The deceased identified as Prathipati Srujan, was a third-year engineering student and originally hailed from Guntur district. Srikakulam district SP KV Maheshwara Reddy said that Srujan hanged himself to death in his hostel room.

The suspension came after allegations that Srujan was attacked by senior students on Tuesday night.

The eight suspended students are identified as Y Amit, SK Anees Ahamad, B Abhishek, J Chinna Babu, Shaik Azeez, SK Mastan, SK Sameer, A Bhanu Prakash.

Fellow students and Srujan’s parents alleged that he took his life because of the attack by seniors.
