Murshidabad: With the announcement of the rebuilding of Babri Masjid in West Bengal’s Murshidabad, the money has started pouring in for the same. Recently, expelled TMC MLA Humayu Kabir announced the construction of the mosque in the district.
Large donations have started pouring in for the construction of mosque from across the state. Appeals are being made from social media to the streets, through posters and banners, for donations. This emotional mobilisation has also raised the political temperature in the state.
As per Humayun's associates, Rs 3 crore has already been received for the construction of the Babri Masjid. With the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad coming to the spotlight since the last few days, questions have also started to be raised for the one in Ayodhya. People have started asking that while money is pouring in West Bengal for Babri Masjid, how much has been donated for the upcoming Mosque in Ayodhya?
The Sunny Central Waqf Board had formed Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation, headed by Zufar Ahmed Farooqui for the construction of the mosque in Dhannipur, which is around 25 km away from Ayodhya. Speaking to TV9 Network, Farooqi said the trust lacks funds, due to which the construction of the mosque is getting delayed. He added that while the map of the mosque has been built, the same would be submitted soon. The work will begin after the approval.
Ahmed Farooqui said, "Around 65 crore rupees are needed to build the mosque. Additionally, hospitals and schools will be built. Separate funds will be needed for that as well." When asked how much donation money he has received, Zafar Ahmed said, "We don't have complete information yet, but some money has come in. The Finance Department will provide the rest."
In 2019, the Supreme Court delivered its verdict on the Ayodhya dispute. The top court ordered that a mosque also be built just as the temple. In response, the government allocated 5 acres of land in Dhannipur village, about 25 kilometers from Ayodhya, for the construction of a mosque in 2020.
