Satara: In a shocking incident, a bus carrying school students from Nashik met with an accident in Satara district of Maharashtra. All the injured have been shifted to a hospital in Karad for treatment. Some of the students are believed to be seriously injured.
The bus was carrying students of Late B.P. Junior College of Science for a picnic. After reaching the Pune-Bengaluru highway near Karad, the bus fell into a 20-foot deep gorge. As per reports, there were 40 to 45 students and teachers in the bus at the time of the accident. The incident took place near a construction site.
Soon after the accident, villagers living in nearby areas rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. As per initial information about the accident, five students have been seriously injured in the accident and more than 15 students have sustained minor injuries. All the injured have been immediately shifted to Krishna Hospital in Karad.
After reaching the spot, Karad police immediately started rescue operations at the spot. The exact cause was not known yet, however, some speculations suggested that the driver of the bus might have lost control. Parents of students are in deep shock after the incident.
Last month, as many as eight school children were injured after their school bus met with an accident in Pune. The bus was reportedly hit from the back by a tempo, which was carrying heavy steel rods. The rods pierced through the rear of the bus after breaking the back windshield. The accident occurred after a biker blocked the bus’s way suddenly. Apart from eight students, a school attendant and the biker were also injured.
