'Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones': PM Modi, other leaders express condolence on Delhi blast

A devastating blast near Delhi's Red Fort Metro Station killed eight and injured five, sparking a city-wide high alert. The explosion, which also set cars ablaze, has prompted urgent calls for thorough investigation from political leaders, including AAP's Kejriwal and Congress's Singhvi, who raised concerns about security lapses in the national capital.

New Delhi: A major blast has been reported near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening which has killed at least eight people and injured five. The blaze from the blast also spread to one or two nearby cars parked close. A high alert has been sounded in the national capital following the incident.

The Delhi Fire Department said, "A call was received regarding an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, after which three to four vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage." A high alert has been sounded in Delhi after the explosion. According to sources, Mumbai Police are taking precautionary measures like increased patrolling and checks at vital locations after the blast in Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences at the incident and said that "those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other officials."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to X to express his condolence to the loved ones of Delhi blast victims and said, "Have visited the blast site and also met the injured in the hospital. My prayers for their quick recovery. Top agencies are investigating the incident with full intensity, and will go in-depth into the incident." 

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Extremely distressing to hear about the news of a car explosion near Red Fort Metro Station, Delhi. Initial reports suggest that several precious lives have been lost in this incident. In this moment of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, and we pray for the swift recovery of the injured. The government must ensure a prompt and thorough investigation into this blast which has taken in a high security and often crowded place, so that those responsible for this lapse and incident are held accountable." 

Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader, Atishi took to X and wrote, "The news of the explosion near the Red Fort is extremely alarming. I pray to God that there has been no damage and everyone is safe. A thorough investigation of the incident should be conducted as soon as possible so that the truth comes out and strict action can be taken against the culprits. The safety of the people of Delhi is of utmost importance to us."

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal said, "The news of the explosion near the Red Fort is extremely alarming. It is reported that some people have also lost their lives in it, which is extremely tragic. The police and government should immediately investigate how this explosion occurred and whether there is any larger conspiracy behind it. Negligence regarding Delhi's security cannot be tolerated."

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi wrote on X, "The news of the car explosion near Delhi's Red Fort Metro Station is extremely heartbreaking and concerning. The report of the deaths of several innocent people in this tragic incident is profoundly sorrowful. In this hour of grief, I stand with the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones and express my deepest condolences to them. I hope for the swift recovery of all the injured."

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi wrote on X, "The news of the deaths of several people and injuries to many others in the explosion that occurred in Delhi is extremely heartbreaking. May God grant peace to the departed souls. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the swift recovery of those injured." 

AAP MLA Sanjay Singh blamed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindoor and said, "Only Pakistan could stoop to such a vile act. Modi has boosted the morale of those Pakistani beasts by agreeing to a ceasefire. Those terrorists who took the lives of our innocent citizens—bring them all to justice too. The attack on the Red Fort is an assault on the symbol of our pride. The country is not safe in Modi's hands. May God grant peace to the souls of the departed." 

Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi said, "Deeply disturbing explosion near Red Fort. Multiple lives lost, vehicles in flames, and Delhi on high alert. Is this the “secure capital” the Home Ministry boasts of? Repeated security lapses in the heart of Delhi expose the government’s shocking complacency. Delhi on high alert, but the ruling party continues with its blasts of arrogance and propaganda. Security collapses, accountability vanishes, and yet slogans roar louder than safety."

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale said on X, "I want to clearly tell society not to pay attention to any kind of rumors. The security agencies are conducting a thorough investigation, and as soon as any confirmed and verified information is received, rely only on that. Do not spread rumors and maintain patience for now. The investigation is ongoing, and the situation will become clear soon."
