Breaking News LIVE UPDATES, July 3, 2025 Latest News Today: Heavy rains lashed in parts of Uttarakhand with Rudraprayag the worst affected region. IMD had issued a 'red' alert for several districts in Uttarakhand on Monday. Extreme rainfall had been predicted across districts such as Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar and Nainital.

The Kedarnath Dham Yatra has been temporarily halted as a landslide occured near Sonprayag, a crucial transit point on the Kedarnath Yatra route. Around 40 devotees were rescued by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) today.

Parts of the road between Silai Band and Ojri has been washed away due to heavy rainfall. Relief forces are constantly ensuring that the pilgrims and residents remain safe.

The Uttar Pradesh government has renamed Watershed Committees to 'Jalagam Samitis' to enhance public engagement. Led by Gram Pradhan, these committees will implement water conservation and land management schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. The renaming aims to increase understanding and participation of rural communities.


Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar inspected water levels of the Ganga at key Patna ghats amid rising levels due to recent rains. He directed officials to stay on high alert and prepared for emergencies. While the river remains below danger mark in most areas, the Met department forecasts more rain over the next two days.

Two women killed as speeding truck hits scooter in Maharajganj

Two women were killed after a fast-moving truck hit their scooter in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday. The victims, Khushboo (25) and Reena (35), were returning from the market. Two others were injured and taken to Gorakhpur Medical College. The truck driver ran away after the crash. The police are investigating the incident.
