Massive preparations underway for Post Malone concert in Guwahati

Guwahati is gearing up for one of its biggest international music events as global popstar Post Malone is set to perform at the Khanapara Veterinary College playground on 8 December. Ahead of the mega concert, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Kamrup Metro administration, and BookMyShow officials jointly addressed a press conference outlining the elaborate security and traffic arrangements.

Strict traffic regulations announced

To ensure smooth movement and public convenience, city police have imposed extensive traffic guidelines.

• From 10 AM on 8 December, commercial vehicles coming from the Sixmile side will face special restrictions. Key stretches—Sixmile to Khanapara on GS Road and Sixmile to Jayanagar Chariali—have been declared NO PARKING ZONES for the entire day.

• Authorities have emphasized that these restrictions are crucial to handle the large crowd expected at the event.

• Parking Arrangements for Over 4,000 Vehicles

• Traffic Police have made significant arrangements to accommodate spectators’ vehicles.

• Parking for around 3,000 cars has been prepared.

• Space for nearly 1,200 two-wheelers has also been allotted.

Further updates regarding parking zones will be released on the official Facebook page of Assam Police on the day of the event. Meanwhile, officials have strongly encouraged spectators to rely on public transport to avoid congestion.

Entry timing and on-ground facilities

Spectators will be allowed to enter the venue from 3:30 PM onwards. Multiple entry gates will be kept open to ensure hassle-free movement inside the ground.

To maintain safety and hygiene, organisers have prohibited water bottles and bags inside the venue. Free drinking water points and dustbins will be set up at various locations across the concert area.

Administration calls for public cooperation

Speaking about the expected turnout, Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner said that around 20,000 to 22,000 people are likely to attend the concert. He appealed to the public to follow all guidelines and cooperate with officials so that the event can be conducted smoothly.

"Everyone should enjoy the concert patiently and return home following all traffic rules. A successful show of this scale will also help enhance international tourism in Assam,” the DC said.

Event made possible through multi-agency support

A BookMyShow representative highlighted the collective efforts behind making the event possible. He thanked the Chief Minister, state government departments, and law enforcement agencies for their support.

"The police have taken extensive measures to ensure safety. All essential arrangements, including free water and waste bins, are in place,” the official added.

Guwahati awaits a historic musical night

As the city prepares to welcome fans from across the region, excitement is building for what could be one of Assam’s most memorable live performances. With thousands expected to gather at Khanapara, the administration has urged everyone to cooperate and enjoy the concert responsibly.
