Donald Trump's statements for past 2 days very unfortunate: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi
On US President Donald Trump’s announcement of imposing a 25% tariff on Indian products, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi says, "US President Trump's statements for the last 2 days have been very unfortunate. I feel that EAM S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval should be changed. These 2 advise the PM on foreign policy, and today, you are seeing the consequences. The imposition of a tariff is very unfortunate, but more unfortunate and tragic is the dialogue between President Trump and the Pakistani government. He has said that he will make an agreement with Pakistan so that India will buy oil from Pakistan in future. This exposes a new decline in the relationship between India and the US. That's why I feel the EAM and NSA should be changed."
We have a strong domestic market: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor reacts to US imposing tariffs on India
On trade negotiations between the US and India, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says, "It is a challenging negotiation. We are negotiating with many countries. The US is not the only negotiation. We have ongoing negotiations with the EU, we already concluded a deal with the UK, and we are talking with other countries also. If we can't compete in America, we may have to diversify our markets outside of America. We are not out of options. If America is completely unreasonable with its demands, we have to move elsewhere. That is the strength of India; we are not a totally export-dependent economy like China. We have a good and strong domestic market. We must give strong support to our negotiators to find the best deal possible. If a good deal is not possible, we may have to walk away."
'PM Modi's one-sided love story is embarrassing all Indians': Congress MP attacks PM over US tariff
On US President Donald Trump’s announcement of imposing a 25% tariff on Indian products, Congress leader Vamsi Krishna Gaddam says, "PM Modi's one-sided love story is embarrassing all Indians on the global platform. We all know his affection for America. The US Visa was rejected for PM Modi in the past, and he was not allowed to enter. This one-sided love story has gone all the way to where Prime Minister Modi had gone to America to even campaign for Trump...Today, Trump has unilaterally imposed tariffs of about 25% and also further penalties, which may go up to 35-40%. This means the total Indian trade deficit with the US alone, which is around 45 billion dollars, will be impacted heavily... With these new tariffs in place, it's said to affect almost Rs 1.5-2 lakh crores of trade. It's shocking that not a word has been spoken since the tariff announcement. PM Modi and EAM Dr S Jaishankar are quiet as if none of this impacts us."
Congress MP attacks PM Narendra Modi over US President Trump's remarks on Indian economy
On the US President Trump's dead economy remark, Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka says, "This exposes the failure of PM Modi as a global leader. He used to call himself 'Vishwa Guru'. He was talking about diplomacy, friendship with the US and the progress of trade talks between India and the US. We have a 25% tariff levied on India, plus penalties, because we have been buying energy from Russia...Due to Narendra Modi's 11 years of foreign policy, India has now been isolated. Trump has virtually said that India will need to buy oil from Pakistan. They are supporting Pakistan to develop oil reserves."
