What happened in Jhunjhunu?

In the viral video, it can be seen that ASI Omprakash of Kotwali police station was brutally attacking a person and his shop. The incident is said to have taken place at around 1 am on the night of August 2.

According to shopkeeper Nahar Singh, resident of Jhunjhunu's Sainik Nagar, the incident started when two youths came to his shop at around 1 am to charge their mobile phones. He allowed them to charge for a while, but later refused. At this, both youths left the shop.

A false complaint and police brutality

At the same time, a police patrol vehicle was passing by, and one of the two youths told the police that he had been assaulted. As per the shopkeeper's allegation, the policemen were drunk. ASI Omprakash entered the shop and, without any inquiry, attacked the establishment with a stick in his hand. To save himself, Nahar used a chair kept in the shop as a shield, which broke during the attack.

According to Nahar Singh, the assault continued for about 10 minutes. Later, another police vehicle was called on the spot, and he was forcibly made to sit in it and taken to the police station. During this time, the shop was left open, and the same youths who were thrown out of the shop stole his mobile and charger.

After keeping him in the police station overnight, Singh was released the next day. But in the meantime, action was taken against him under Section 151. Singh says that due to the atmosphere of fear and police pressure, he did not register a case of assault against him in the Kotwali police station.

The CCTV footage of this entire incident has surfaced, in which it can be seen that ASI Omprakash is repeatedly hitting Nahar Singh with a stick in his hand. The attack shown in the footage is so brutal that anyone can be terrified after watching it.

Nahar Singh sustains injuries

Singh has sustained serious injuries on several parts of his body. He said that the police not only beat him but also tortured him mentally. “I never thought that those who protect the law could treat an innocent person like this,” he said.

After this incident, there is a discussion all over the city, and people are raising questions about the behaviour of the police. Now this matter is gaining more importance due to the viral video on social media. Many people are demanding that the administration take strict action against ASI Omprakash and deliver justice to the victim shopkeeper. At present, no official statement has been issued by the police department regarding this incident, but the viral footage has exposed the entire matter to the public.
