New Delhi: A recent high-speed BMW crash claimed the life of a medical college student and severely injured four others near Thiruporur on Thursday morning. This latest tragedy follows closely on the heels of another fatal incident earlier this month, where two women lost their lives in a collision between a government bus and a private van in Kunnathur village.

The tranquillity of Thursday morning was shattered when a luxury BMW car, reportedly carrying five medical college students, tragically rammed into a stationary truck near Thiruporur. The tragic impact resulted in the immediate death of one student, whose identity has not yet been released.

Four other students travelling in the vehicle sustained severe injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Details regarding the exact circumstances leading to the collision, including the truck's presence and the speed of the BMW, are currently under investigation by local authorities.

Two lives lost in Kunnathur village crash

Earlier this month, a separate and equally tragic incident unfolded in Kunnathur village, claiming the lives of two women. Officials reported that a government bus, en route from Chennai via Puducherry, collided with a private van. The victims, identified as 40-year-old Uma and 24-year-old Banu, were passengers in the van and died at the scene. The van was reportedly transporting employees from Keelarkolai village to a private company located in Alandur. Several others involved in this accident sustained injuries, ranging from severe to minor.

CM Stalin extends compassion and financial aid

In light of these dual tragedies, Chief Minister MK Stalin extended his condolences and announced a financial assistance package for the victims and their families.

Under the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund, the families of the deceased individuals, including the medical college student and Uma and Banu, will each receive Rs 3 lakh.

Those who sustained severe injuries in these accidents will be provided with Rs 1 lakh each, and people with minor injuries will receive Rs 50,000 each.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Stalin has issued directives for the best possible medical care for all injured parties. "I have directed that special treatment be provided to those injured in this accident at Chengalpattu Government General Hospital, Pooncheri Government Hospital, and private hospitals," the chief minister said.
