Chennai: Tamil Nadu is currently operating of 16 Vande Bharat Express services across eight major routes, according to information shared by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The count of 16 services represents train operations in both directions on each route, effectively forming 8 pairs of high-speed trains linking the state with key destinations within and beyond its borders.

These services that operate entirely within Tamil Nadu as well as those connecting the state’s major cities like Chennai and Coimbatore with important hubs in neighbouring Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.

The services are designed to provide faster and more comfortable travel. For instance, the Chennai Egmore–Tirunelveli Vande Bharat will offer direct connectivity to southern Tamil Nadu with scheduled stops at Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, and Madurai. Similarly, the Chennai Egmore–Nagercoil service will link the capital to the southern tip via Tambaram, Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Kovilpatti, and Tirunelveli.
