Chennai: Tamil Nadu is currently operating of 16 Vande Bharat Express services across eight major routes, according to information shared by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The count of 16 services represents train operations in both directions on each route, effectively forming 8 pairs of high-speed trains linking the state with key destinations within and beyond its borders.

The routes identified as major Vande Bharat corridors benefiting Tamil Nadu are:

  • Chennai Central – Mysuru
  • Chennai Central – Coimbatore
  • Chennai Egmore – Tirunelveli
  • Chennai Central – Vijayawada
  • KSR Bengaluru – Coimbatore
  • Vijayawada – Chennai Central (forming a pair with the Chennai-Vijayawada service)
  • Secunderabad – Tirupati (connecting to Tamil Nadu's pilgrim circuit)

Similarly, the Chennai Egmore–Nagercoil service will link the capital to the southern tip via Tambaram, Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Kovilpatti, and Tirunelveli.
