Poor visibility forces PM Modi's helicopter to abort landing in Bengal's Taherpur

Modi was travelling from Kolkata to Taherpur to attend official programmes and address a political rally. After failing to land, the helicopter headed back to Dum Dum airport.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's helicopter on Saturday could not land at Taherpur due to poor visibility and was forced to return to Kolkata airport.

Modi was travelling from Kolkata to Taherpur to attend official programmes and address a political rally. After failing to land, the helicopter headed back to Dum Dum airport.

Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, told the gathering at the rally venue that adverse weather conditions prevented the helicopter from landing, adding that the Prime Minister was likely to address the meeting virtually.

Meanwhile, state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya alleged that the democratic system in West Bengal was being undermined under the government of Mamata Banerjee, despite the public having given it a mandate for change and democratic governance.
