Apple launches 'Shop with a Specialist over Video' in India

Apple has rolled out its 'Shop with a Specialist over Video' feature in India, making it the second country globally to get the service. Indian users can now connect with an Apple expert over a secure one-way video call to explore and buy iPhones or other products from home.

New Delhi: Apple is now letting Indian customers shop for their favourite devices with help from a real Apple expert on video. The company has launched its 'Shop with a Specialist over Video' feature in India, making it the second country after the US to get this service. With more users shifting to online buying, the move gives people across cities and towns a chance to connect with a store expert in real time.

The one-way video call service allows Apple customers to speak with a team member who helps them browse products, compare models, and understand offers like trade-ins or EMI options. The service works on both Apple and non-Apple devices. Customers stay on audio, while the expert appears on video.

Connect with a real person, not just a chatbot

Available Monday to Friday from 10 am to 7 pm, this new Apple India service helps people make informed decisions before buying. All you need to do is head to apple.com/in/store and click on the option to begin the video chat.

You can ask questions about the new iPhone 16 series, iPads, MacBooks, or other accessories. The expert on the other side will walk you through the models, explain specs, and give simple buying advice. This becomes useful if you're unsure which version suits your needs or if you want help understanding trade-in values.

The video is one-way only. That means you can see the Apple staffer, but they can't see you. This ensures privacy, especially for users who may not be comfortable being on camera.

India-only rollout

Apple is slowly expanding its presence in India. This video shopping tool follows the launch of the Apple Store app earlier this year, which made browsing and buying products easier.

Karen Rasmussen, Apple’s head of Retail Online, said, “India is a vibrant and dynamic market, and we’re thrilled to deepen our connection with customers here through Shop with a Specialist over Video.”

She added that the tool would help people in both big cities and smaller towns get the same level of service that Apple is known for. “Whether someone lives in a metro city or a smaller town, we’re committed to making it easier than ever for them to access the incredible products, services, and support Apple is known for.”

No store visit needed

If you’re eyeing the iPhone 16 Pro or the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max, this is one way to clear your doubts. Both phones come with Apple Intelligence, the new A18 Pro chip, and better battery life. The Pro Max has the best battery on any iPhone so far, according to the company.

Instead of going to a store, users can now explore these products, get feature comparisons, and understand pricing without stepping outside their homes. This also reduces confusion for first-time buyers or those unsure about financing and trade-ins.

Apart from this video feature, customers in India can also:

  • Use the Apple Store app for tracking orders and personalised recommendations
  • Learn device tips through Today at Apple sessions
  • Get help with setups, financing, and support all in one place

For now, the service is only in English, but Apple may add support for Indian languages later depending on how it performs.
