New Delhi: Battlefield 6 hasn’t even fully opened its beta to the public yet, but it’s already breaking records on Steam. According to data from SteamDB, the open beta for the upcoming FPS has hit a concurrent player peak of 334,549. This figure makes it the most played Battlefield game on the platform in terms of peak players.

The beta is technically still in its early access phase. Players who meet certain entry requirements, or those who watch select Battlefield 6 streams on Twitch, are able to join in before the wider rollout. Once the beta opens to everyone on August 9, the numbers could go even higher.

Beta numbers leave previous Battlefield titles far behind

To put the scale of this into perspective, the current peak for Battlefield 6’s beta has already more than doubled the peak player count from Battlefield 2042’s beta, which reached 156,665 at its highest. It has also more than tripled the concurrent player peak of Battlefield 2042’s full launch, which maxed out at 107,376.

At 334,549 players, Battlefield 6’s beta has also placed itself at number 38 on SteamDB’s all-time “most played games” chart. That ranking puts it ahead of major titles like Elden Ring: Nightreign, Starfield, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Early access and streaming boost visibility

Part of the surge can be credited to the way access is being rolled out. While the beta is branded as “open,” early access has allowed influencers and streamers to draw attention to it well before the public opening. Watching select Twitch streams can also grant viewers a beta key, giving the game additional visibility on one of the largest gaming platforms.

Even with this slightly limited entry system, the player count has already reached a point that most live-service games would consider a huge win. When August 9 comes around, the doors will open to everyone, and it will be worth watching if Battlefield 6 can climb further up Steam’s most played list.

A big moment for the Battlefield franchise

For long-time Battlefield fans, these numbers mark a strong start for the series’ latest entry. Player counts are often seen as a good indicator of early interest, and surpassing all previous entries before the beta has even gone fully public suggests that Battlefield 6 has managed to capture attention in a way its predecessor struggled to.

Whether the final game can hold this momentum will depend on how it performs at launch and in the months that follow. For now, though, Battlefield 6 has already secured its place in the franchise’s history with this record-breaking beta run.
