Australia is reeling from a terror attack at Sydneys iconic Bondi Beach, where a Hanukkah celebration tragically became a scene of mass violence. New South Wales Police have officially classified the shooting as a terror attack, confirming that Jewish Australians were deliberately targeted during a public lighting ceremony.

The incident unfolded as nearly a thousand people gathered along the beachfront. Two gunmen, dressed in black, opened fire indiscriminately, triggering widespread panic. Police reports indicate 16 people lost their lives, and approximately 40 were injured, including a 10-year-old child.

Five of the injured remain in critical condition, while two police officers shot during engagement are stable. Police clarified the attack was carried out by a father-son duo. One 50-year-old attacker was shot dead by police, while his 24-year-old son, Navid Akram, was critically wounded and taken into custody.

Akram, of Pakistani origin, is believed to have studied at Hamdad University in Islamabad. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited the site, condemning the massacre as a "dark moment" for the nation and vowing to confront hatred.
