Rawalpindi: Months after India’s Operation Sindoor, a new audio clip of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar has surfaced online. In the audio, the JeM chief can be heard condoling the death of his elder sister. Azhar can be heard calling her sister a ‘martyr’ in the audio.
Notably, India had conducted Operation Sindoor against nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, including those of JeM. Indian armed forces initiated the action on May 7, says after 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. Among those who were killed in the attack were his sister, brother-in-law, a nephew and his wife, a niece, and several Jaish militants.
In the audio, Azhar not only refers to his sister but also asks women to join the jihad and support terror activities. He also referred to 'Jamaat-ul-Mominaat’, JeM’s women's wing in the audio. The date of release of this audio remains unclear. The tone of his message seemed to be for the purpose of recruiting women.
In seemed that in the audio, women are being promoted as ideological carriers. An attempt is being made to normalise the radicalisation of women in every household. The said audio reflected the most dangerous steps to encourage women to join the Jihadi group in the country.
Recently, in another audio, Azhar had revealed for the first time about his escape attempt from Jammu’s Kot Bhalwal jail. In the audio, he admitted of digging a tunnel to flee. He even said that tools were used in the plan. He added that the bid failed at the last moment, just when they were to break free. Talking about the incident, he seemed to be shaken, suggesting that he is still haunted by the fear of his prison days.
