Trump’s 160-post Truth Social blitz raises questions over his priorities and well-being

US President Donald Trump triggered alarm and debate after unleashing more than 160 Truth Social posts in a four-hour late-night blitz, followed by a cabinet meeting where he appeared to nod off. The manic posting spree, filled with political attacks, conspiratorial claims and self-praise, has intensified scrutiny of his priorities and mental well-being at a crucial moment in his presidency.

New Delhi: In an extraordinary late-night digital outburst between 7 pm and nearly midnight on Monday, US President Donald Trump unleashed more than 160 posts on Truth Social, which is one of the most intense online barrages of his presidency, triggering renewed concerns about his governing priorities and his mental well-being.

The 79-year-old president posted at a breakneck rhythm, at times exceeding one message per minute. He turned his preferred platform into a public stream of grievances, boasts and conspiracy-laced assertions. The frenzy was followed on Tuesday afternoon by a three-hour cabinet meeting where Trump appeared to momentarily drift off as aides showered him with praise, a scene critics called unusually sycophantic for American governance.

Concerns deepen over stability

Trump’s Monday evening began mildly, with a repost of his cameo from Home Alone 2 captioned, “Christmas is officially GREAT again!” But the tone quickly darkened. The president accused former President Joe Biden of using an “autopen” to sign executive orders, pardons and federal contracts — and declared those documents “null, void, and of no further force or effect.” Among the actions he claimed were invalid were pardons for Dr Anthony Fauci and General Mark Milley, comments that could spark new constitutional and legal debates.

An analysis by Axios found that around 60% of the 158 posts (excluding duplicates) were reposts promoting MAGA allies, while 30 per cent were original commentary and 10% multimedia. The messaging was a familiar but unusually frantic mix: promises to “permanently pause migration,” attacks on Democrats including Ilhan Omar and Nancy Pelosi, and accusations that Democrats orchestrated the January 6 attack.

Interwoven were tributes to First Lady Melania Trump and praise for his own economic record. The feed also amplified misinformation and fringe content, including material from conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and claims that Michelle Obama secretly used Biden’s autopen to sign pardons.

Unprecedented posting spree

The volume dwarfed Trump’s usual digital activity. He averaged 25 Truth Social posts per day in November, with infrequent spikes nearing 50. Monday night’s 158-post blitz surpassed his August 2024 “rigged election” spree (112 posts) and his January 2025 inauguration-week burst (89 posts).

Supporters hailed the outpouring as a sign of energy and “transparency,” but late-night hosts mocked the “shitposting,” with Jimmy Kimmel quipping, “Do you know how long you have to be on the toilet to post that much?” Analysts, however, expressed deeper worry. “If a family member behaved like this, you’d intervene,” one critic said — a sentiment that fueled mounting questions about the president’s stability and sense of focus at a pivotal moment in his term.
