New Delhi: The 2026 version of Ducati’s popular Monster has been unveiled, making a return to the muscular tank look and is the fourth motorcycle in the brand’s lineup to come with a 890 cc V2 engine.
Since the start, the Monster has been with huge success, having saved the brand from financial distress. In the latest, the Monster comes back with the big tank that made it famous in the first place. Ducati have heard pleas from critics who were unhappy with the previous version that strayed away from the original design.
The tanks integrate vents that are reminiscent of the second generation of the Monster. This tank also allows a wider lock-to-lock steering movement. The headlight too has been upgraded and comes with a round DRL that doesn’t meet at either top or bottom, unlike previous models and comes with dynamic swiping indicators in the front and back.
The Monster comes with a new 890 cc V-twin, or as the brand calls it, V2, shared from the Multistrada V2, Panigale V2, and Streetfighter V2. This bike makes around 111 bhp at 9000 rpm and 91.1 Nm of torque at 7250 rpm. The power, though, remains the same; it is the torque that has gone down by 1.9 Nm from the previous Monster. The engine comes with an intake variable valve system that provides wider torque as opposed to the peaky top-end rush.
It is mated with a six-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter. The engine comes with a larger interval of 45,000 km between valve clearance checks, making it a more peaceful ownership.
The 2026 Monster comes with a lightweight aluminium frame bolted directly to the cylinder heads, complemented by a technopolymer trellis-style subframe along with a double-sided swingarm inspired by the Panigale V4. This bike also continues with the aluminium monocoque chassis with the engine acting as a stressed member, something they have employed since 2020.
Along with the big tank, the Monster also comes with a single-piece seat that has a stock height of 815 mm, which is 5 mm lower than the last version. Ducati will also sell a lower seat and suspension-lowering kit that will sit at 775 mm. The Show comes with suspension setup, including a 43 mm upside-down fork and a preload-adjustable rear shock. Braking duties are shared by twin Brembo 4.32 callipers with 320 mm discs, like the previous model.
The new Ducati Monster’s electronic package comes with a six-axis IMU that oversees cornering ABS, traction and wheelie control and engine-brake control. There are four riding modes, which are Sport, Road, Urban, and Wet, which come with dedicated Power Modes that adjust power delivery and intervention levels as well. The aids are present but can be customised with three levels of ABS, including a front-only mode.
It also has eight levels of Traction Control, four of Wheelie Control and three of Engine Brake Control. Settings are going to be accessed from a five-inch TFT screen, which is bigger than the previous 4.2-inch TFT.
The Monster is going to come in two variants, standard Monster and Monster Plus, the latter coming with a small windscreen and seat cowl, and both will feature Iceberg White and Ducati Red. The outgoing model was placed at Rs 13.84 lakh, and the new model is likely to be priced higher.
