Marut Suzuki has been dominating the Indian market for quite some time now, and one of the reasons for their dominance has long been the nostalgia factor. People love Maruti’s because they have been riding in them for a long time, and they have sweet memories of their fathers or grandfathers owning one.

There have been a lot of Maruti Suzuki cars that have been called legendary, not because they have anything to offer in terms of performance, but because they have stood the test of time and the rough terrain of our country. Here are 5 Maruti cars that strike nostalgia like no other.

Maruti Suzuki 800

The Maruti Suzuki 800 was the car which started it all. It brought the Indian middle class's dream of owning a car to reality, and it totally changed the game. It was efficient, affordable and very reliable, which could not be said for other cars that were for sale in the Indian market then. The Japanese hit it out of the park then which is why they are so dominant still.

Maruti Suzuki Omni

The Maruti Suzuki Omni is still an icon. It is infamous for kidnapping people, but the Omni brings in a lot of memories for us. The Omni was a practical box on wheels which was used to haul everything and anything, including people. A lot of people have memories of going to school in an Omni, and these vehicles were robust and built for any task thrown at them.

Maruti Suzuki Zen

The Maruti Suzuki Zen was another brilliant hatchback that is still loved by enthusiasts. The Zen came with a larger engine and more premium features than the 800. It came with a diesel engine as well, and there was a two-door variant which was limited to only 600 units. The Zen was extensively used in motorsports due to its nimble nature. It was updated a few years later and then eventually replaced by the Zen Estilo, which was a larger vehicle.

Maruti Suzuki Esteem

The Maruti Suzuki Esteem was almost luxury at the time it was launched. The three-box sedan was popular with the elites, and the Esteem was the entry to it. It came with a brilliant 1.3L G13 engine and was a favourite amongst enthusiasts. The Esteem also had a huge presence in Indian motorsport history. There were a lot of them made, and it was sad to see it discontinued and not see a successor.

Maruti Suzuki Gypsy

The Maruti Suzuki Gypsy was a barebones vehicle which only had one purpose: to be capable when the terrain gets tough, and boy, did it impress. The Gypsy was used by the Indian army until very recently, and these cars are indestructible. There is a great following of these cars, especially in the hills, as they are small, nimble, and the 4x4 system just works.
