New Delhi: Kawasaki’s KLX230 pricing have been struck down by Rs 1.30 lakh and is now priced at Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Launched last year, it was previously priced at Rs 3.30 lakh, though the localisation has helped the production expense remain low as well.
This means it is now a closer competition with the Hero Xpulse priced between Rs 1.76 and 1.86 lakh. Due to the pricing, there were unfavourable comparisons to the much more powerful KTM 390 Enduro R, purely because the two were priced at the same price.
Localisation means there are some mechanical tweaks as well, with the suspension travel being lowered by 20 mm at the front and 27 mm at the back. Both ends come with larger disc brakes. The bike is powered by a 233 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 19 bhp at 7,800 rpm and 19 Nm at 6,200 rpm and is mated with a six-speed gearbox.
There’s a 37 mm telescopic fork and monoshock that look after suspension duties. The Kawasaki KLX230 comes with a 7.5-litre fuel tank. There are barely features in the bike as it comes with a monotone LCD along with Bluetooth and dual-channel ABS.
Customers who are looking for a more focused trail machine, Kawasaki has the KLX230R at Rs 1.94 lakh on offer. Since it isn’t road-legal, it doesn’t have a headlamp, instrument cluster and other equipment, which makes it lightweight and uncompromising spec makes it a perfect companion for off-roading.
