New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki Celerio have been crash tested by Global NCAP, where it improved its previous rating. It received an adult occupant protection rating of 3 stars, while the child occupant protection was rated at 2 stars. The hatchback scored 18.04 points of the 34 points in adult protection and 18.57 points of the total 49 points in child protection.
Global NAP also had tested the Celerio in the 2-airbag setup and had received 2 stars for adult protection and 1 star for child protection. With six airbags and ESC now coming as standard, the Celerio has managed to take a better score, showing the equipment improving the safety quotient of the hatchback.
Along with all of this and a three-point seatbelt, Celerio comes with ISOFIX child-seat anchors are available on the rear outer seats, while the front seats feature pretensioners and load limiters for the seatbelts. Further, you get ABS with EBD, back parking sensors, and compliance with UN 127 pedestrian protection standards, and the model tested was an Indian-made, intended for the domestic market.
On the other side of this scale is the Maruti Suzuki’s mid-size sedan Ciaz, which received only a 1-star rating for adult occupancy protection (AOP) and a 3-star rating for child occupancy protection. The Ciaz scored 20.86 of the 24 points in the AOP rating, while in the COP, it managed 28.57 points from the total 49 points.
Protection for the front was rated between good and adequate, while in terms of COP, it scored quite well in the dynamic score, getting 24/24, but the Ciaz failed miserably in vehicle assessment, as the Ciaz doesn’t get 3-point belts for all seats.
