Mercedes-Benz India could hike price in every quarter of 2026

Mercedes could be increasing their prices in each quarter, cushioning their price surge, due to the depreciation value of the rupee against the euro, though nothing is set as to how much pricing will increase.

New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India are evaluating a steady increase in vehicle prices through the next calendar year as they try to cushion the impact of the rupee’s sharp depreciation against the euro. The brand’s Managing Director and CEO, Santosh Iyer, said price corrections could be implemented on a quarterly basis in 2026 in order to manage the rising input and import costs.

The brand already said that they are planning to hike prices of their products by about 2 per cent from January 1st, 2026. The price adjustment reflects the ongoing forex challenges as the euro-rupee exchange rate consistently remains above the Rs 100 mark in 2025, much higher than historical averages, they said.

Speaking to PTI on the sidelines of the FICCI Mercedes-Benz Bharat Innovation business ideas challenge programme launch, Iyer pointed out that rupee devaluation against the euro has caused them to consider a price hike through the quarter of next year. He noted that one and a half years ago, the exchange value was Rs 89 to a euro, which has now gone up to Rs 104-105, which is above 15-18 per cent depreciation

“So we are spreading (the price hike), otherwise the demand may get also affected," Iyer said, adding that the company is mindful of balancing cost recovery with customer sentiment.

Iyer said that while the brand hasn’t finalised the quantum of price hike expected for each quarter of 2026, it could be in the margins of 2 per cent in each quarter.
