Report: Tesla to launch second showroom in India at Delhi's Aerocity

According to reports, Tesla's new showroom at Delhi's Aerocity is likely to open on August 11th, just one month after the US-based brand opened its first showroom in Mumbai.

New Delhi: Electric Vehicle maker Tesla are preparing to open their second showroom in India, with the American-based brand coming to the national capital Delhi. Following the launch in Mumbai last month, the company has now chosen Delhi’s Aerocity, which is a high-end commercial area near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport as their location for their second showroom in India.

Media outlet CNBC-TV18 reported that the new showroom is scheduled to open on August 11th. This comes right after Tesla have introduced the Model Y in India, simultaneously activating the official India website, which allowed the users to register interest from Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram.

Tesla enters the Indian Market

Tesla commenced their entry into the Indian market with the opening of their showroom in Maker Maxity Mall, which is located in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. At present, there are two variants of the Model Y that are on display and are the ones that are going into the market.

The company is expecting to start deliveries for the RWD variant by the end of the third quarter of the year. The long-range vehicle is likely to be delivered from the fourth quarter. Starting at a base price of Rs 59.59 lakh, for the RWD, the range on-road goes for Rs 61.07 lakh. The long-range variant is priced at Rs 67.89 lakh with the on-road price reaching Rs 69.15 lakh. 

The read-wheel drive comes with two battery-pack options: a 60 kWh and a 75 kWh. The RWD trim has only one motor that produces 295 bhp. The 60 kWh battery has a claimed WLTP-certified range of 500 km on full charge, while the long rear wheel drive has a claimed WLTP-certified range of 622 km on a single charge. Tesla has created a lot of buzz around it, and there are quite a few potential buyers of the lineup.
