New Delhi: Tesla has taken another step in its India push by opening its first full scale Tesla Centre in Gurugram. This new facility finally gives buyers a place to see, test and understand the brand in person. The centre, located at Orchid Business Park, became operational today.
Tesla arrived in India just a few months ago, in July 2025. Sales did not explode instantly. There was confusion among buyers about service and charging. This centre looks like Tesla’s answer to many of those questions.
Tesla calls this an all in one operation. Customers can walk in, learn about the tech, take test drives of the Model Y, get after sales help and even charge their vehicles using V4 Superchargers. That is a first for India. We think many Indian EV owners will be curious to see how quick and smooth these chargers really are.
Right now, Tesla has similar experience locations in Mumbai and Delhi along with three public charging points. Another charging site in Gurugram is coming up soon. Once ready, Tesla will have four charging sites with 16 Superchargers and 10 Destination Chargers across the country.
The Model Y remains Tesla’s only offering in India. Prices start from ₹59.89 lakh. Two variants are available. The Rear Wheel Drive promises 500 km WLTP range and does 0 to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds. The Long Range Rear Wheel Drive stretches the range up to 661 km WLTP and does a quicker 5.6 seconds sprint. Top speed is rated at 201 kmph in both. Deliveries for new orders are still being planned before the end of this year.
Bookings continue online. Tesla takes an order deposit of ₹22,220 and a service fee of ₹50,000. It is a model many of us are now familiar with, especially since the brand kept things online for long.
Tesla is confident that its Full Self Driving capability will work in India when regulations clear it. The company points out unpredictable driving behaviour and bad lane markings but still believes the system can manage. Model Ys sold today already have hardware ready for this. They need regulatory approval to activate it.
This centre launch shows Tesla is now stepping out more confidently after a slow start. It will take time for infrastructure and awareness to grow. But buyers who were waiting for a familiar service style location now have a door they can knock on.
