New Delhi: 2026 will be the year of bikers because it comes with many new sports, and performance bikes are going to be launched on the Indian market. There will be options for different types of riders, from mid-sized street bikes to powerful cafe racers and adventure bikes. The Yamaha YZF-R9, Honda CBR500R, Royal Enfield Continental GT 750, and BMW F 450 GS will bring a mix of power, technology, and design.
The YZF-R9 is built for strong performance and sharp handling for riders who like speed, while the CBR500R offers a smooth and easy ride for those moving up from smaller bikes. The Continental GT 750 keeps its classic cafe racer look but with more power, and the BMW F 450 GS has adventure features and modern tech, making it good for both city rides and longer trips.
The YZF-R9 will use an 890 cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder engine along with a six-speed gear option that can produce around 117 bhp. It is expected to come with a full fairing, an aggressive riding position, and modern electronics such as riding modes, traction control, and a quickshifter. The focus will be on strong mid-range power and track-ready performance.
The CBR500R came as a mid-capacity sports bike. It uses a 471 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin four-stroke engine along with a six-speed gear option, and it produces around 47 bhp. The engine is known for smooth and predictable power delivery rather than outright speed. The bike features a full fairing, a stable chassis, and a comfortable riding position. It is expected to suit riders looking to move up from smaller sport bikes without handling something too aggressive.
Royal Enfield is working on a larger Continental GT, expected to be powered by a 750cc parallel-twin engine, and it can produce around 54 bhp. The bike is likely to make more power and torque than the current 650 models. The design will remain close to the classic café racer style, with clip-on handlebars and a retro fuel tank. This motorcycle is expected to focus more on road performance and high-speed cruising rather than track use.
The BMW F 450 GS, a new entry-level adventure bike, is anticipated to debut in India in 2026. It comes with a 420cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine along with a six-speed gearbox, which is capable of 48 horsepower at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The bike has four riding modes, heated grips, traction control, switchable dual-channel ABS, and a 6.5-inch colour TFT display.
