New Delhi: The Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun have expanded their lineups, introducing a new colour option: Flash Red. The new exterior paint shade is available exclusively for the Sports line trims, which include the GT Plus Sport and GT Line options. This option is a much brighter metallic shade of red in comparison with the Wild Cherry Red.
The paint option comes with a black roof and B-pillar to add contrast to the car’s look. There are no other changes made to the car apart from the aesthetic upgrade. The Taigun and Virtus GT Plus Sport come with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 148 bhp and 250 Nm, while the GT trim gets a 1.0-litre TSI engine that makes 113 bhp andf 178 Nm.
Both engines get a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with an automatic transmission available. The 1.0-litre TSI features a six-speed torque converter, while the 1.5-litre EVO is equipped with a seven-speed DSG unit.
The facelifted Volkswagen Taigun has been spotted more recently with the new grille and bumper design, making it more aggressive in looks. The headlamps also get updated a little and could have new LED parts as well. At first look, the camouflaged taillight does appear to have been tweaked as well. It is likely to get some interior upgrade as well, with more added features. The interior aesthetically is also expected to have some minor designing and elementary changes as well.
Mechanically, the Taigun will continue with two engine options, all paired with the same transmission. Volkswagen have got a great response with the performance of the engine and is unlikely to make much change to that. For now, the two Volkswagen models come with a lot of sporty looks to their name, and the colour option does make them stand apart.
