A fire broke out on an empty coach of Hisar Express at Tirupati Railway station on Monday, wchich was doused immediately, railway officials said.
The mishap occurred at around 2 pm and no casualties were reported.
“The fire was brought under control immediately by the fire brigade,” a railway official was quoted by PTI as saying.
A statement from the South Central Railway (SCR) Zone identified the train as Hisar-Tirupati Special (Train Number 04717).
"There is an incident reported in Train No. 04717 Hisar - Tirupati Special Train while taking this empty train into the stabling yard. During the shunting process, a fire was noticed in one general coach and was immediately isolated from the rest of the coaches and fire was dozed (doused)," the release said.
It said that there was no disruption to trains arriving/departing from Tirupati railway station due to this incident. The RPF Police are investigating the incident.
