Indian American businessman donates Rs 9 crore to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam

Mantena Ramalinga Raju said in his remarks that he has a deep connection with Tirupati.

Tirupati: Indian-American businessman, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, Ramalinga Raju Mantena, donated Rs 9 crore to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) for the modernisation of PAC 1, 2, 3 buildings.

“On behalf of TTD, heartfelt congratulations for this spirit of service shown for providing better facilities to devotees,” Chairman BR Naidu said in a statement on X.

Mantena Ramalinga Raju said in his remarks that he has a deep connection with Tirupati and cited his relationship with two former chairmen of the temple body.

The donation comes shortly after his daughter Netra’s grand wedding to Vamsi Gadiraju at the historic Jag Mandir Island Palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan. TTD, the custodian of Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati, is the richest Hindu shrine in the world.

What is the businessman's background?

Rama Raju was born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and moved to the US for higher education in 1984. He is the founder and chairman, chief executive of Ingenus Pharmaceuticals, based in Orlando, Florida.

His company’s R&D and operational facilities are based in the US, Switzerland and India, reports said. His daughter's wedding saw the presence of Donald Trump Jr, Jennifer Lopez and other famous Bollywood stars.
