New Delhi: A 13-year-old Class 8 student died by suicide on Friday morning after jumping from the third floor of a reputed private school in Maharastra's Jalna district. The deceased has been identified as Aarohi Deepak Bidlan.
The incident took place around 7:30 am. According to police, Aarohi had arrived at school as usual when, shortly after, she jumped from the third floor of the building. School authorities immediately informed her father, Deepak Bidlan, who rushed to the premises. Aarohi was taken first to a private hospital and later referred to the District General Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The police reached the spot soon after and conducted a preliminary inspection. An accidental death report has been registered, and officials say the exact cause behind the suicide is still under investigation. “We are examining all angles. The reason is not yet clear,” said Sandeep Bharti, Police Inspector, Sadar Bazar Police Station.
Meanwhile, the student’s father has levelled serious allegations against the school, claiming that continuous mental harassment by teachers drove his daughter to take the extreme step. “My daughter was being mentally tortured. The teachers’ behaviour pushed her into despair. We want strict action and justice,” he said.
The school administration has denied wrongdoing and said that they are cooperating fully with the investigation. Principal Satish Deshmukh described the incident as “deeply tragic,” adding that the truth would emerge only after a thorough probe. Police said statements of teachers, students and staff will be recorded as part of the ongoing probe.
