Hyderabad: Cold wave in Telangana has further intensified as temperatures fell in many districts.
Sirpur village of Komarambheem Asifabad recorded 7.1°C on Thursday morning followed by Tiryani, which recorded 8.2°C, according to Telangana Development Planning Society data.
Meanwhile, Ibrahimpatnam on the outskirts of Hyderabad recorded 11.5°C. In Hyderabad, HCU Serilingampally recorded 11.8°C, Rajendranagar recorded 12.9°C while Maredpally recorded 13.6°C.
A further drop in temperature is expected over the next few days. Minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 2°C to 3°C at some places over Telangana during the next two days, India Meteorological Department said.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30°C and 14°C respectively. Surface winds are likely to be northerlies/north-easterlies with wind sped of 6-8 kmph.
Telangana issues advisory on seasonal flu as dry weather, drop in temp expected:
Meanwhile, Telangana government issued an advisory warning to citizens to remain cautious against seasonal flu as IMD issued dry weather forecasts and below normal minimum temperatures.
As per Office of the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, the drop in temperatures could intensify the spread of acute respiratory infections.
Seasonal flu is described as ‘acute and contagious respiratory infection by fever, cough, sore throat, body ache and fatigue.’ Health officials said that some groups are more prone to severe illness. Vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women and the elderly are at a greater risk of severe illness. The advisory stated that most people can recover within a week with enough rest and hydration and home-based core.
