Telangana: Drunk watchman sleeps with his leg in rice vessel at college hostel; dismissed from duty

Sangareddy: A watchman at a government polytechnic college hostel in Ismail Khanpet, Sangareddy district, was found sleeping with his feet in a rice bowl under the influence of alcohol.

The watchman was identified as Chandrashekhar, a temporary guard who had been working there for a few months.

Students, who arrived for dinner at the canteen hall on Wednesday night and found the watchman in the condition, alerted the food contractor immediately. The rice was cooked again to be served to the students.

Sangareddy District Collector Praveenya issued orders to remove the watchman from duty.

Social media users expressed outrage about the incident and some of them called for legal action to be taken against the man.

“This is so atrocious ! This drunkard should not just be removed from his duties & strict legal action should be taken!” one X user wrote.

“Unbelievable and disappointing. Students deserve basic hygiene and dignity. Good that action was taken immediately,” another wrote.

One has cheekily dubbed it as ‘Leg Biryani’ while others said that it is not acceptable. “Nothing to see here. Just a Telangana man proud of his drinking culture. Yayyyy.”
