New Delhi: The Supreme Court has slammed Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad over the MLA disqualification and issued an ultimatum to take a decision in four weeks, tv9 telugu reported.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader KT Rama Rao and others filed three separate petitions under the tenth schedule seeking the disqualification of ten MLAs who defected to Congress in 2024.

The plea came up for hearing before the bench of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice BR Gavai, on Monday, November 17.

Hearing the case, CJI Gavai said, “Speaker’s behaviour is defying SC orders. Take decision within a week or face contempt of court. The speaker has no immunity in 10th schedule matters.”

Advocates Abhishek Singh and Mukul Rohatgi on behalf of the Speaker stated that a decision will be taken within 4 weeks.

The next hearing in the case will be held in four weeks.
