New Delhi: There is little doubt that there has been an increase in the number of Ferrari products in the last few years, and Maranello is going for a more aggressive shift. The plan is that between 2026 and 2030, on an average, will debut four new models will debut each year. That will be a big output from a marque exotic brand that only sold around 13,752 units in 2024, which is by their standard the best year so far.

While Ferrari are yet to reveal any big details about the structure or the direction the brand is heading towards, it has a confirmed launch in their first electric vehicle, the “Elettrica”. In theory, there is also an upgraded 296 on the way, as well as a plug-in hybrid Purosangue, given that the SUV’s platform is EV compatible.

There could be open top versions of Amalfi and F80, although there isn’t clarity on when it will happen.

20 models by the next five years is quite a big target, but Ferrari’s CEO Benedetto Vigna has said that exclusivity will be their biggest priority of course. He has further told analysts that it is advisable to have “more models with limited volume than a few models with higher volume.”

The Prancing Horse’s “product diversification strategy” targets to attract a bigger range of buyers without diluting their grace. There could be assumptions that a surge in products alienates those looking for Ferrari’s exclusivity. You buy a Ferrari because it is a rare sight and few get to own it.

However, Vigna has confirmed that orders already cover the entire 2026 production run, which means new buyers won’t take delivery until 2027.

How is business looking for Ferrari at present?

Ferrari's portfolio to have more ICE and Hybrid models

Ferrari at present have close to 90,000 active clients, being defined as customers who have bought a car in the past five years. There’s a big 20 per cent rise over 2022. In the same period, more than 32,000 people became first-time Ferrari owners. Collectors also now have 20 per cent more cars than before, and that does show business in better shape.

Much like most automakers right now, Ferrari have noticed EV adoption isn’t happening as fast as it had been projected. In 2022, the company’s aim was 40 per cent electric share of their lineup by the end of the decade. However, that figure has halved now. At present, the brand expects by 2030, Ferrari's portfolio to have 40 per cent hybrids, 40 per cent ICE models and only 20 per cent in EVs.

With the company now more committed to their fabled V12 engine, a future SP4 from the Icona Series also might come with a 6.5-litre engine that is at present reserved for the Purodangue and 12Cilindri. Limited-run models and one-offs coming with this powertrain will sell out in moments, as V12 is obviously heading towards extinction, many feel.
