New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki have announced the recall of Grand Vitara due to a potential issue with the speedometer’s fuel level indicator and warning light. This will be the fourth and the biggest recall of the Grand Vitara since the midsize SUV launched in 2022.

According to the official document from Maruti Suzuki themselves, a total of 39,506 units of the Grand Vitara produced between December 9th 2024 and April 29th 2025 are affected by this recall. This will, of course, mislead the drivers with information of how much fuel remains in the tank, which raises safety and reliability concerns.

The document noted, “It is suspected that the fuel level indicator and warning light in the speedometer assembly in some of these vehicles may not accurately reflect the fuel status as intended.

Maruti Suzuki are themselves going to reach out to the owners affected by this recall and carry out an inspection of the replacements of the faulty component without any charge.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara previous recalls

Back in 2022, Grand Vitara saw its first recall along with Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, and Brezza following the possibility of a defect in the “shoulder height adjuster assembly of the front row seat belts. It had been said that a child part might lead to seat-belt disassembly in rare cases. In 2023, the petrol version again saw a recall due to a possible defect in rear seat-belt mounting bracelets that were potentially loose.

Maruti Suzuki also recalled the Vitara along with Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Baleno and Brezza due to a fault in the airbag controller/ seat-belt pre-tensioner, which would not let the airbag deploy in some cases.

In recent years, there have been many cases of recall due to various issues, and brands include Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Hyundai and Honda. Issues range from airbag issues to engine software updates. Even Mercedes-Benz in June recalled the EQS Sedan, GLC, AMG SL 55 and S-Class models for potential fire risk.
