New Delhi: Maserati India have launched the fully-electric ‘Folgore’ version of the GranTurismo coupe and GranCabrio convertible in India. The GranTurismo Folgore price in India is going to start at Rs 3.05 crore, while the GranCabrio Folgore is priced at Rs 3.18 crore. At this price range, they don’t have any rivals.
Under the bonnet, more or less, the Maserati grand tourers are quite similar, coming with an 83 kWh (usable capacity) battery pack powering a trio of electric motors, one on the front axle, two at the back that make for 761 bhp (which temporarily can be boosted to 829 bhp) and 1350 Nm.
The GranTurismo Folgore takes about 2.7 seconds to do 0-100 kph, while the GrandCabrio Folgore does the same in 2.8 seconds.
The top speed for the GrandTurismo Folgore is at 325 kph, while the GranCabrio Folgore is at 290 kph. Maserati have said that GranTurismo Folgore has a range of 450 km while GranCabrio Folgore have 447 km in one charge as well. Both Folgore models can be charged at 270 kW, placing them among the quickest charging EVs in the country.
Aesthetically, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore aren’t much different from the ICE-powertrain models. The EVs are differentiated by the revised bumper design, ‘Folgore’ badging and different alloy wheels, although everything else it. Overall, the design remains the same with sleek LED headlights, tail-lamps, oval grille with the Maserati trident emblem, triple slats on the front fenders and much more.
The GranCabrio Folgore comes with a foldable fabric roof that can be lowered and raised in about 14 seconds as long as the speed remains below 50 kph. It also comes with a neck-warming system with three levels of heat output coming as standard. Buyers can also opt for a deflector that makes smooth airflow over the passengers.
On the inside, both the cars come with an identical layout with 2+2 seating configurations, a well-laid-out dual-tone dashboard, a centrally mounted customizable digital clock that takes centre stage, flanked by two lower screens that manage infotainment functions and in-car controls. You even get artificial engine sounds pumped into the cabin through the speakers for a more engaging driving experience.
