New Delhi: Porsche have announced a voluntary recall of 158 Panameras (YAA/YAB), manufactured between July 19th 2023 and September 2nd 2025, because of incorrectly assigned cabling for the crash sensors in the door trim panel. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers’(SIAM) website’s Voluntary Recall stated that there was an incorrectly assigned sensor that might delay the side airbag trigger in a particular crash situation. The statement further said, “Such a delayed trigger of the side airbag increases the risk of injury.”

This comes after around 142 Porsche Panamera (YAA) have been recalled in Australia due to a similar airbag issue. Like most of these recalls, Porsche are expected to reach out to the owners of the affected cars in order to fix the problem. Owners could also log on to Porsche’s recall website and check if their car is in the affected lot with their VIN.

According to SIAM data, the recall is the second time Porsche have made a recall this year. The previous recall, announced back in March this year, for the Porsche 991 was also over a safety issue.

The apex body for all major vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers in India had stated that an aluminium butyl mat had been positioned incorrectly, and consequently, the screw connection of the back left and right seat-buckle might not have been carried out as per the specifications.

The body further noted that if such a situation happened, then it was possible that the rear seat-belt buckles would loosen in case of an emergency braking or accident, and in turn would increase the chance of injury, said the body.
